GenericPainRelief Drug Policy

Purpose

The purpose of this drug policy is to ensure the safe and effective use of Carisoprodol and Tapentadol by our patients. This policy will be used to educate patients about the risks and benefits of these medications, and to provide guidance on how to use them safely.

Scope

This policy applies to all patients who are prescribed Carisoprodol or Tapentadol by GenericPainRelief.

Policy

  • Patients must be 18 years of age or older to be prescribed Carisoprodol or Tapentadol.
  • Patients must have a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider (Not Mandatory for Controlled Drugs on Our Portal).
  • Patients must be aware of the risks and benefits of Carisoprodol and Tapentadol, including the following:
    • Carisoprodol and Tapentadol can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired judgment.
    • Carisoprodol and Tapentadol can interact with other medications, including alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers.
    • Carisoprodol and Tapentadol can be addictive.
  • Patients must not take Carisoprodol or Tapentadol if they are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Patients must not take Carisoprodol or Tapentadol if they have any of the following conditions:
    • Liver disease
    • Kidney disease
    • Heart disease
    • Glaucoma
    • Seizure disorder
  • Patients must not take more Carisoprodol or Tapentadol than prescribed.
  • Patients must not take Carisoprodol or Tapentadol with alcohol or other drugs that can cause drowsiness.
  • Patients must not crush, chew, or break Carisoprodol tablets.
  • Patients must not take Carisoprodol or Tapentadol if they are experiencing any of the following side effects:
    • Slurred speech
    • Confusion
    • Hallucinations
    • Seizures
    • Difficulty breathing
  • Patients must contact their healthcare provider immediately if they experience any of the above side effects.

Monitoring

Patients who are prescribed Carisoprodol or Tapentadol will be monitored for the following:

  • Side effects
  • Drug interactions
  • Compliance

Education

Patients who are prescribed Carisoprodol or Tapentadol will be educated about the following:

  • The risks and benefits of Carisoprodol and Tapentadol
  • How to take Carisoprodol and Tapentadol safely
  • What to do if they experience any side effects

Dispensing

Carisoprodol and Tapentadol will only be dispensed to patients who have a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. Patients will be instructed to take Carisoprodol and Tapentadol as directed by their healthcare provider.

Confidentiality

All information related to a patient’s use of Carisoprodol or Tapentadol will be kept confidential.

Violations

Any patient who violates this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of account.
